Team Match

  •  Eligibility

     

    1)      Eligibility - Regular and replacement players must be full members of the WDCGA. Substitutes may include associate members. WDCGA members who belong to more than one club may be on only one team, however, members that belong to more than one WDCGA club may substitute for teams from either/any of her clubs as long as they are not in the same division.

  • Composition of Teams and Divisions

     

     

    2)      Composition of Teams and Divisions

    a.       Teams per Club: Every club may field at least one team. No club shall be permitted to field a third or fourth team before another club has had the opportunity to field its second and/or third team.  Each team shall consist of six regular members with a minimum of two substitutes for the first team and one for every other team entered.  A club which submits more than one team must place its regular team members on teams according to ascending handicap indexes.

     

    b.       Composition of Divisions:  The seven teams with the lowest total aggregate handicap indexes will comprise the First Division, the next seven lowest teams, the Second Division, etc. The last Division shall consist of no fewer than five teams.  Otherwise, there shall be no limit on the number of Divisions.  No club shall have two teams in the same Division.  When this occurs, it is permitted to (a) combine two teams to compose only one team or (b) to replace regular team members with any qualified player so that the team falls into another Division.

  • Handicap

     

    3)      Handicap Players shall use their end of previous season handicap (Maryland – 16 Nov., Virginia 1 Dec.) for the team match season.  Newly eligible members who are not listed in the schedule book shall use their April 1st handicap index.  For handicap purposes, individual scores of participants shall be posted as tournament scores.

  • Conditions of play for Regular Players

     

    4)      Conditions of play for Regular Players Regular team players must play a minimum of three complete matches in a six-match competition, and a minimum of two complete matches in a five-match competition. Failure to fulfill this requirement without permission of the District Teams Chair and the Second Vice President will result in the player being ineligible to participate in the competition the following year.

  • Replacement Players

     

     

    5)      Replacement Players

    a.        Prior to the Competition: A regular player may be replaced prior to the competition with the knowledge of the District Teams Chair and the Second Vice President. The replacement player will move into the appropriate slot based on ascending handicaps. Teams with a replacement player shall remain in their original Division.  When a team has a replacement player(s) (prior to competition) the aggregate will be revised, however, a team with a replacement player(s) may not raise their aggregate more than 4 points higher than the highest team aggregate in their division. If it does raise the aggregate more than 4 points then the player(s) must play to a reduced index.

     

    b.       During the Competition:  Replacement player(s) added during competition must not raise the teams aggregate by more than 4 points. If it does raise the aggregate then the player(s) must play to the reduced index. Players that have been replaced shall not be eligible to be a substitute in the competition unless the District Teams Chair and Second Vice President have given permission.

  • Substitute Players

     

    6)      Substitute Players

    a.        Regular players may not substitute on any other team, in any division.

    b.       A team may not have more than three substitute players playing on any one date of the competition.

    c.        Any teams substitute player(s) may not raise the team’s aggregate index by more than 4 points.

    d.        Members who belong to more than one WDCGA club may substitute for teams from either/any of her clubs as long as they are not in the same division.

  • Fees

     

    7)       FeesEach regular team member must pay a fee to be determined each year. The fees shall be collected by the Club Team Captain, (5 checks plus her own) and the team captain will write one check (made payable to the Division Captain) and give to the Division Captain at the Captains’ spring meeting.  The Division Captain will then write one check payable to the WDCGA.  Substitute players pay no fees.

  • Awards

     

    8)        Awards

    a.        Division Team winners shall be presented with a team trophy by the Division Captain.

    b.       First and second place teams will receive a frame with certificate.

    c.        Prizes: First and second place winners shall receive gold discs (regular team members only).

    d.        Additional blank discs may be purchased for substitute players who contributed significantly to the team’s success.
